Hunter Knepshield of Texas proudly partnered with Denison Independent School District to renovate the playground at Lamar Elementary, one of three campus playground projects completed during the summer of 2025. This installation represents Denison ISD’s commitment to providing exceptional outdoor learning and play environments for their students.
Streamlined Procurement Through BuyBoard
Denison ISD utilized BuyBoard for this playground purchase, taking advantage of the cooperative purchasing program that helps Texas school districts streamline procurement while ensuring competitive pricing. This efficient approach allowed Denison administrators to move quickly on their playground renovation plans while maintaining fiscal responsibility.
Group Play Features for Denison Students
The new Lamar Elementary playground emphasizes collaborative play experiences that help Denison students build social skills and friendships. The centerpiece triple slide allows three children to race side by side, creating exciting shared moments. The Quad Saw accommodates four students simultaneously, encouraging cooperative movement and teamwork. A three-bay arch frame swing set ensures multiple children can swing together during recess.
Sensory and Educational Elements
Understanding that modern playgrounds serve as outdoor classrooms, we incorporated the SISTEM Panel into Lamar Elementary’s design. This interactive feature engages students’ senses while promoting learning through play, perfectly aligning with Denison ISD’s educational mission.
Nature-Themed Musical Components
Three musical playground products bring both creativity and natural beauty to the Lamar Elementary campus. Featuring flower and butterfly designs, these nature-themed instruments allow Denison students to explore music and rhythm while connecting with the natural world. These elements transform the playground into a multisensory learning environment.
Safe, Maintainable Surfacing for Denison Schools
The playground features wood fiber surfacing, a popular choice for Texas school districts due to its natural appearance and cushioning properties. We installed wear mats at high-traffic areas, including slide exits and beneath the swing set, to extend the surfacing lifespan and reduce maintenance requirements for Denison ISD facilities staff.

This Lamar Elementary project represents one-third of Denison ISD’s comprehensive playground renovation initiative completed in summer 2025.
